 AUSTRALIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER BOB CARR MEETS TO DISCUSS ISSUES ON UKRAINE

The Australian Government has now been officially approached to support the opening an Australian Embassy in Kyiv Ukraine, consider sending an official Government group of election observers to monitor parliamentary elections in Ukraine in October 2012, support the release from jail of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and support the call for recognizing the 1932-33 Great Famine – Holodomor in Ukraine as an act of Genocide and crime against humanity

General Secretary of the Ukrainian World Congress and Chairman of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations, Stefan Romaniw OAM and Senator Catryna Bilyk, Senator for Tasmania and Chair of the Parliamentary Australia-Ukraine Friendship today Wednesday May 9, 2012 met with Australian Foreign Affairs Minister the Hon Senator Bob Carr.

The Foreign Minister was very versed on issues relating to the current situation in Ukraine and also recognized the community’s efforts over many years and agreed to continue dialogue on the issues raised.

The Minister agreed to provide a written position on the Tymoshenko issue that could be relayed to Ukraine’s authorities.

He also agreed to examine the issue of Australia’s representation as election monitors and observers at the Parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

The Minister also reaffirmed  his commitment of ensuring crimes such as the Holodomor were never repeated. He referred to his long standing support for this issue mentioning his support for a motion on the Holodomor whilst in the NSW Parliament on the 70 Anniversary of the Holodomor in 2003, (attached)

“The meeting was most productive and we will await further discussion and decisions on matters raised” Mr Romaniw said.

Senator Bilyk also offered her support for issues raised and indicated she would work with the Minister in dealing with the matters at hand. She also expressed a strong interest  in heading a delegation to the elections if such a delegation were to be agreed to by the Government.

Mr Romaniw extended an invitation to  the Foreign  Minister to deliver a keynote address at the Conference Dinner on the occasion of 26th Triennial Conference of the  Australian  Federation  of Ukrainian Organisations to be held in July 2012.

NSW HANSARD 2003

Mr BOB CARR (Maroubra—Premier, Minister for the Arts, and Minister for Citizenship) [11.41 a.m.]: I support the motion and I thank the honourable member for Gosford for moving it. Some of my reasons for talking about these matters now are contained in the terms of the motion itself. However, I will give a further reason. I quote from a review of Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago by the English writer and critic V. S. Pritchett, in the London New Statesman in 1975:

When people say to [Solzhenitsyn], ‘Why drag all that up from the bad times?’, his answer is that a country’s, a dogma’s evasion of its own past, on this excuse or that, is as fatal to the quality of life as it is to the private heart.

That is a profound truth relevant to our own country’s history. However, in the case of the Ukrainian famine of 1933, the silence and denial surrounding it not only betrayed the victims but also poisoned the springs of western intellectual and political thought and life for a generation. For too long there were too many men and women of undoubted goodwill across the political and ideological spectrum, from right to left, unwilling to acknowledge the evil of totalitarianism and refusing to acknowledge that the evil of totalitarianism was one and indivisible.

In her book on Adolf Eichmann and the Holocaust, Hannah Arendt coined the expression “the banality of evil”. However, in this event, we may see also what I might call the casualness of evil, that is, the casual way that unimaginable evils can be perpetrated and the casual way they can come to be accepted by the rest of the world. At the root of such evils, small or large, always lies the denial of the essential and equal humanity of the victims, be it on racial, religious or ideological grounds. What happened in the Ukraine in 1933? I draw on the account given by Robert Conquest in his book The Great Terror, first published in 1968, at the height of the Cold War, but it is by no means a cold warrior’s tract. Conquest wrote:

Stalin, though retreating [in the face of opposition within the Communist Party] had given up his plans for collectivization …Resistance was now met by a simple method. If the peasant had produced only enough for his near subsistence, leaving none for the State, local enforcement officials reversed that procedure. The last sacks of grain were taken from the barns for export while famine raged. Butter was sent abroad while the Ukrainian infants were dying from lack of milk.

Conquest continued:

It is also the only major famine whose very existence was ignored or denied by the governmental authorities, and even to a large degree successfully concealed from world opinion.

That was written in 1968 and probably ignores what we now know Mao achieved in China. Conquest noted:

Some foreigners … penetrated the famine area and saw for themselves. But the information was naturally taken up and given widest publicity in the West by those most hostile to the Soviet Union in principle.
By a common reaction, left-wing and even moderate circles were able to persuade themselves that the story was untrue or, a much easier view, greatly exaggerated. [After all] the Soviet Government had not admitted it.

Thirty years later there was brief lifting of the curtain in the Soviet press allowing publication of the serial People Are Not Angels by Ivan Stadnyuk, telling the Soviet people what really happened:

… the men died first, then the children, and finally the women.

A careful examination of all the estimates and the accounts seems to show that over five million deaths from hunger and the diseases of hunger is the best estimate.

Even by the standard of the blood-drenched twentieth century, that is a staggering figure made all the more horrific by a chilling sentence:

… the only case in history of a purely man-made famine.

However, I must append the qualification that what we now know about China would add another case, what we are beginning to know about North Korea would add another, and what I think is agreed about Ethiopia would probably account for a further case.

Throughout European history only one unique and terrible event stands above it, the Holocaust itself. Yet who can doubt that the contemptuous ease with which Stalin got away with his crime emboldened Hitler and his henchmen in their own genocidal criminality? It would not be the only respect in which Hitler learnt from the model provided by Lenin’s and later Stalin’s Soviet Union. In remembering what happened in the Ukraine in 1933, we also remember that 30 million Soviet citizens, including millions of Ukrainians, were to die a few years later in the Second World War. We also do well to remember that all these horrors of the twentieth century took place on the European peninsula, that is, west of the Urals; these are European disasters. Let us remember that fact when we assume the superiority of our own values. However, if it helps to remind us of the consequences of silence and of acquiescence in the face of great evils committed in the name of ideology, race or religion, this motion will have served a good, in fact a great, purpose.

In his account of the Gulag, the labour camps, the prisons and the lunatic asylums where opponents of the regime were incarcerated, Solzhenitsyn always made reference to the Ukrainians. They figured prominently in the suffering of the Gulag. Suspicion of being a Ukrainian nationalist meant persecution and incarceration. We think on this occasion of all those Ukrainians who died in the decades after this criminal man-made famine and who perished in the Gulag. Solzhenitsyn referred to the well-stamped patches of soil behind the barbed wire, the shaven heads, the freezing temperatures, the pinched guts, the starvation, the slow deaths and, in some cases, the sudden deaths. These people were crammed into prisons where they were witnessed by other Soviet dissidents and their perishing recorded. We think of the Ukrainian people and their suffering and the opportunities are now available to them through independence and, we hope, a robust democracy. I commend the motion to the House and thank the honourable member for Gosford for bringing it forward.

Dr Kvit Lecture, Webb Lecture Theatre UWA

(May 8 2012)

Speaking in a relaxed and professional manner Dr Kvit commenced his presentation beginning with the Holodomor (1932 to 1933) which occurred in the period of the Soviet occupation of Ukraine (1918 to 1991).  He spoke passionately including recollections of the Holodomor from a personal perspective.

Dr Serhiy Kvit also related the history of the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) from its inception in 1615 to the present; including the University’s involvement in the Orange Revolution.  He revealed that the Orange revolution’s slogan “Razom nas bahato! Nas ne podolaty!” (“Together, we are many! We cannot be defeated!”), the rhythmic chant that spread through the crowd of hundreds of thousands that filled Kyiv’s Independence Square on the evening of November 22, 2004, was coined earlier by students of the NaUKMA; and these students were to be the first activists of the Orange Revolution!

The question time began passionately with people sharing their families grief during the Holodomor period with questions relating to the sociological and psychological consequences.  The current Ukrainian situation was also something people wanted to hear about and Dr Kvit answers were well accepted.

So much history was revealed in such little time and yet the delivery was compelling and complete; and left you wanting more was fact that the lecture would have gone well past the completion time was proof that it was well received by all present.  Afterwards many people approached Dr Kvit to congratulate and continue discussions and questions.

Metropolitan Petro Mohyla most certainly smiles to have such a worthy successor to the university that he founded (initially called the Kyiv Brotherhood School in 1615; the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium in 1632 and finally, the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 1658) as Dr Serhiy Kvit.

Hopak in the Park 2012

A pleasant autumnal day was on hand to welcome over 1,400 attendees to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, Australia for the second Hopak in the Park on Saturday 28 April 2012.

Proceedings commenced with the singing of the National Anthems of Australia and Ukraine, followed by the Welcome (Pryvit) Dance performed by the Veselka and Zaharava Ensembles from Sydney.

The show was ably compered by Kristie Carter, a TV presenter from Newcastle, NSW.

The initial dances were interspersed with welcome messages from Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisation (AFUO) officials and official guests.

Some variety was added to the dance spectacle with guest appearances by HRIM, a Ukrainian band from New York, and Danny McGinlay, a Melbourne comedian who has just completed a season at the Melbourne Comedy Festival where he portrayed an Australian about to marry his Ukrainian girlfriend and his attempts to learn Ukrainian.

However the main theme of the show was traditional Ukrainian dancing and not just the Hopak.  The dance ensembles who came from all over Australia provided a vivacious and colourful spectacle, set to lively music.  The dances were representative of different regions of Ukraine, both in dance choreography and traditional costumes.  The list of dances and performers included:

And for those spectators who felt peckish or thirsty, there was plenty of food and drink available, including varennyky (Ukrainian dumplings) and borshch (beetroot soup), Ukrainian beer and horilka (vodka).

A wonderful time was had by all.

A massive thank you to the Melbourne weather, the organisers who put in such enormous effort to put on this show, and to all the performers who gave such a professional exhibition of Ukrainian dance at its best.

У 2002‐ 2007 роках був деканом факультету . Він заснував Києво‐Могилянську школу журналістики в 2001 році і став президентом Центру медіа реформ в Україні. Національний університет «Києво-Могилянська Академія» – один з найбільш шанованих університетів України. Університет, його співробітники та студенти відзначилися стійкістю в обстоюванні академічних свобод та університетської автономії, а також прав людини і демократичного процесу.

Відзначення 100 ліття з дня народження ЯРОCЛAВA CТЕЦЬКA в Cіднеї

Вчора , в новому Домі Української  Молоді на John St Lidcombe, зібралася значна громада людей, щоб відзначити Ювілей – 100 років від дня народження великого сина українського народу, св.п. Ярослава Стецька , котрий став Прем’єром Тимчасового Уряду відновленої Української Держави , проголошеної Актом 30-го червня 1941.  Арешти слідували.  Концентраки.

Люди зібралися в привітному притворі перебудованого але модерного приміщення, Сіднейського Осередку Спілки Української Молоді, котрий носить назву ім. Тараса Чупринки, як в Ню Йорку.  Подавано соки з помаранч та інших овочів.  За короткий час, усі рухнули до головної  салі , на 200 сидячих місць.  Занявши свої місця за гарно прибраними столами, усі очікували початок Свята.  Саля не заповнилася, дехто замовив був квитки а не прибув.  Їхня страта, бо не почули змісту а не пльоток про сучасність.

Їжу і пиття поблагословив за звичаєм о. Ждан Коломиєць.Новий шедевр кухонного мистецтва, сумівець Стефан Михно з штабом помічників зварив борщ, подав два м’ясива солодке з морозивом та великим тортом, печеним Лілією Матіюк.

Також ввійшли до салі запрошені австралійські та інші етнічні представники бувших співробітників в Австралійському Відділі АБН – Анти Большевицького Блоку народів –якого ще в 1946р міжнародним президентом, став св. п. Ярослав Стецько, посилюючи правомірне незадоволення українських післявоєнних скитальців в 1960-их і 70х роках з подальшими утисками комуністичного  режиму на рідних заемлях.  Це була тюрма народів.

Сіднейська спільнота особливо підтримувала бувшу Місію Свободи на Формозі (Тайван), та інші заходи дипломата Я. Стецька на міжнародній арені.  На конференціях Світової Антикомуністичної Ліґи (ВАКЛ), кількакратно виступали українські Сіднейці, в українських делегаціях під проводом п-і Слави та Ярослава Стецьків.

Це зібрання  в Домі Української Молоді також гучно вітало цього дня, надзвичайно заслуженого гостя з України – Др-а Сергія Квіта, президента Києво-Могилянської Академії, професора журналістики, адміністратора, бувшого абітурієнта престижної Американської програми школярів Фулбрайта.  Оце саме Др. Квіт мав виступати і виступав з знаменною головною доповіддю на цьому святі, заторкуючи цікаві вінєтки із життя Я. Стецька.- та п-і Слави.

Не потрібно було входити в подробиці.  З боку салі, була розложена виставка кольорових фотографій з Музею Ярослава Стецька (і п-і Слави) вислана нам з Великого Глубочка біля Тернополя де народився був Ярослав, а де активіст в цьому районі, п. Мирон Сагайдак, подбав про споруду і вивінування прекрасного музея – з фінансовою допомогою Сіднейського Відділу Ліґи Вільної України та Аделаїдської.  Кошти збирав завзято Василь Ней, бувший житель і також уродженець села.  Експонати музея будуть з вдячністю затримані Ліґою в ДУМ, де вже має місце маленький музей Відділу Союзу Українок Австралії, ім. О. Басараб.

Формальна частина почалася від привіту голови  Проводу  ОУН(б) Стефана Романіва, котрого зачитав, в оправданій  відсутності самого голови,  провідник на терен НПВ  Ярослав  Дума, відмітивши велику постать  Я. Стецька.   Рівнож  Я. Дума відчитав привіт Стефана Романіва, в його капацитеті голови СУОА , спонзора приїзду дост. Гостя Др-а Сергія Квіта.   Ярослав Дума також вітав від усіх друзів в області.

Та повернемося до промови Др-а Сергія  Квіта.  Промовець розповів, про сучасний політичний стан в нашій Батьківщині.  Там влада є в руках поганого уряду.  Роль президента в тім є фундаментально не задовільною.  Існує сумний стан браку нових лиць, що може призвести до спроб пануючої партії  поновити впливи.  Одиноке «нове лице в політиці» це постать бувшого боксера Віталія Кличка, котрий намагається вивчити досконаліше мову – звісно ж українську, бо балотується на мера Києва.  Др Квіт  Не потрібно далі демонізувати Дмитра Табачника – він сам себе викінчить, бо його ніхто не любить – Табачника план для сектора вищої освіти,  був суто відкинений академічним  колективом.  Він  Путіна міністер, та Росії апологетик – не України.

Співпраця між Києво-Могилянським і Українським Католицьким Університетами є взаїмно доповнююча.  В КМА більшість факультетів взоруються на західних моделях докторських структур, відкидуючи совєтські залишки кандидатур, аспірантур тощо.  УКУ напримір має курси філософських дисциплін а в КМА запроваджуватимуть департаменти Інформаційної Технології (ІТ), бо ця старовинна але з духом часу прогресивно думаюча інституція,  бажає злитися в русло модерних західних течій.  Українська і англійська мови панують, як мови навчання, з огляду  на  завдання університету КМА виховувати нові кадри державних посадовців.та урядників.

Ведучий програмою, нижчепідписаний, подбав щоб з  привітальними промовами виступили були речники наших етнічних сусідів. мадярів, хорватів, балтійців.  Особливо змістовне і порівняльно паралельне експозе висловила приятелька в Балтійській Раді, естонка Тіію Кроль-Сіммул.  Вона вказувала на потребу бути чуйним і  резолютним, бо ворог не спить, і далі бороздить.

Слово Майкела Дарбі, бувшого Президента Ради Поневолених Народів НПВ в 1970-их і 1980-их роках, було насичене прекрасним знанням української історії -мииулої як і сучасної.

Хорватський-Австралійський федеральний  віцепрезидент Фабіян Ловоковіч, один з ближчих співпрацівників Ярослава і Слави Стецько на міжнародній арені ВАКЛ конференцій, запевняв усіх що між нашими обома народами завжди будуть приязні відносини.

Кінцева промова, мадяра Беля Кардоша, порушила добро-сусідські  пограничні аксіоми.  Австралія сприяє затриманню повного довір’я між народами Европи.

Др. Сергій Квіт проїде п’ять австралійських поселень українців на цьому континенті.  Напевно СУОА підготовило грунт для всебічної фінансової допомоги КМА.

КМА зветься державним університетом – але цей уряд що тепер панує скоротив фінанси університета на 50%.  Ганьба та й годі.  То не моглоб статись в Австралії.

Сіднейський Відділ Ліґи Вільної України започаткував збір коштів,. поважним датком який був вручений Др. Квітові в неділю.  Індивідуальні пожертви вплинули також від п. Василя Нейа та інших.  Надіються в СУОА, що другі інституції також долучаться до цього.

Діловий комітет імпрези складався був із представників організацій КУДО (Конференція Українських Державницьких Організацій) НПВ.  Були там від Ліґи Вільної України, Союзу Українок (відділ ім О. Басараб), Станиці бувших вояків УПА, Осередку СУМ  та клітина ОУН(б).  Членам комітету належиться подяка за їхню працю

ВШAНУВAННЯ 100 ліття з дня народження ЯРОCЛAВA CТЕЦЬКA

ЗУCТРІЧ др. CЕРГІЄМ КВІТОМ В CІДНЕЇ

Управа Cоюзу Українських Організацій Aвстралії ( CУОA) запросила з візитою до цієї держави, – ректора, президента Національного Університету Києво-Могилянської Aкадемії др. Cергія Квіта.

Приїхав він до Cіднею в п’ятницю 20.4. рано і вже того дня відбув зустріч з міністром громадянства та багато-культурних справ Нової Південної Вaлії – паном Віктором Домінелло.

Відбув і прогулянку по сіднейському побережжі й зустрівся з австралійським символом – медведиком  коалою, який йому дуже подобався. A кому коала несподобається?

Відбув зустріч з редакторaми газети «Вільна Думка», зокрема з її засновником паном Володииром  Шумським.

В суботу 21- го Квітня відбулася зустріч з директорами Фундації КAРПAТИ Володимиром Войтовичем,  Ярославом Думою і Ярославом Іванцем (запросили мене на обід з ними).

Дирекція обговорила можливіть створення стипендій для студентів Aвстралії, які мали би бажання студіювати в Києво Могилянській Aкадемії.  Передбачується успішне завершення  переговорів в скорому часі.  Після цієї зустрічі ми гуртом  у супроводі Вaсиля Cенька відали Новий Дім Молоді, де завтра відбудеться відзначення 100 ліття з дня народження ЯРОCЛAВA CТЕЦЬКA, др. Квіт виголоцить доповідь на тему життя й діяльності Ярослава Cтецька, про що подам завтра обширніше…Др. Квіт вже сьогодні нам доволі обширно розповів про проблеми, з якими стикається Києво-Могилянський Університет у складному політичному і культурному контексті сучавідвідали Новий Дім Молоді.

Цікаво були згадувати спільних друзів журналістів, а між ними Cергія Нaбоку, який  завчасно пішов з цього світу.

Опісля др. Cергій Квіт у супроводі Голови Фундації Українознавчих Cтудій Мaрка Шумського відвідав др. Євгена Гливу, який був близьким співпрацівником Ярослава Cтецька зразу після другої світової війни, а всі роки, коли др. Глива відвідував Мюнхен зустрічався з панством Ярославою і Ярославом Cтецько.

Відбулася й зустріч з директорами Фундації ФУCA.

Багатьох питалися  мене : – а скільки років др. Cергієві  Квітові.

Відповідаю: – народився він 26 го листопада 1965 року в Ужгороді. Йому 47 років.

В неділю 22 квітня др. Квіт був присутнім на Богослужбі  в  Українській Католицькій Церкві ім св Aндрія в Лідкомбі.

Відтак  відбулося в Домі Молоді відзначення 100 ліття з дня народження політично-громадського діяча  премєра Україні 1941 року Ярослава Cтецька.

В залі можна було подивитися на знимки, документи про Ярослава Cтецька  – як учня, студента,  голови Правління Уряду, проголошеного з приводу  Aкту 30 червня 1941 року, Голови  Організації Українських Націоналістів й відеозапис з посвячення Музею і Cтецьків в у селі Великий Глибочок в Тернопільській Області. Я не чула що на відео говорилося, оскільки звуку не було.

Др. Cергій Квіт, як головний доповідач на відзначенні, згадав кількома словами про подружжя Cтецьків, а, як журналіст з спостережливим оком, доволі обширно розповів про проблеми  з якими зустрічається Києво-Могилянський  Університет  у складному політичному і культурному контексті  сучасної України.

Він розповів про те, як Університет, його студенти, протестують, можна вжити слово боряться з нерозумними а радше ганебними  рішеннями Міністра Освіти  Дмитра Табачника, що до галузі освіти.

Були роздано чужинецьким гостям текст доповіді на англійській мові про Києво-Могилянську Aкадемію, її університет. Все те, що казав др. Cергій Квіт можна прочитати в його багатьох статтях, довідках на інтернеті.

Cтверджую – він, як релятивно молода людина, цікавий, добрий оратор, його легко  слухається.

Були присутніми на, що мало бути відзначення 100 ліття з дня народження Ярослава Cтецька, а яке з самого початку, після привіту Голови CОУA Cтефана Романіва, якого відчитав Ярослав Дума, в українській й англійській мовах – перетворилося в доповідь про Києво-Могилянську Aкадемію – гості:

• представник хорватів – Фабіян Ловоковіч
• Мадярів – пан Белла Кaрдош,
• Від естонців пані  Тію Крол,
• Від колишнього Комітету Поневолених Нaродів пан Майкел Дарбі.

Др. Квіт вже сьогодні нам доволі обширно розповів про проблеми, з якими стикається Києво-Могилянський Університет у складному політичному і культурному контексті сучасної України.

Вони в своїх виступах згадували про їх співпрацю з панством Cтецько в Cвітовому Aнти-большевицького Бльоку Народів.

В понеділок  23.4.2012 др. Cергій Квіт відбув зустріч в Університеті Технології Cіднею.

Професор Aлен Найт (Alan Knight – Head, Graduate School of Journalism, )   – голова школи ґрадуатів журналістики, прийняв в приміщенні Університету –др. Cергія Квіта, редактора Марка Шумського, др. Aнну Шимків – оглянули  вони відділ журналістики.

Завдання конкурсу – заохочувати дітей та молодих людей в Україні та по всьому світі вивчати українську мови та користуватися нею.

Конкурс буде проводитися в режимі он-лайн у приміщеннях з комп’ютерним обладнанням по всій Австралії. Місця проведення конкурсу перераховані на веб-сторінці конкурсу,   http://arts.monash.edu.au/ukrainian/competition/

У Конкурсі мають право брати участь особи у віці від 9 до 21 років (включно).

Учасники конкурсу будуть поділені за віковими групами. У кожній віковій групі буде по дві категорії:

• Учасники, які отримали частину шкільної освіти в Україні;

• Всі інші учасники.

Переможці в кожній категорії кожної вікової групи отримають нагороду у розмірі 200 дол. Усіх нагород буде 22.

PETRO JACYK INTERNATIONAL UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE COMPETITION:

AUSTRALIA-WIDE COMPETITION 2012

 Saturday 26 May 2012:

10.30 a.m – 12:00 noon (Eastern States)

10.00 a.m – 11.30 a.m (South Australia and Northern Territory)

8.30 a.m – 10.00 a.m (Western Australia)

The competition promotes the knowledge and use of the Ukrainian language among children, teenagers and young adults in Ukraine and throughout the world.

The competition will be conducted online at computer-equipped venues around Australia. These are listed on the Competition’s web page,

Persons aged between 9 and 21 years (inclusive) are eligible to participate.

There will be several age bands. Within each age band there will be two categories:

• participants who have received some formal schooling in Ukraine;
• all other participants.

Winners in each category within each year band will receive a prize of $200. There will be 22 prizes.

Dr Serhiy Kvit, a leading Ukrainian academic and activist, will visit Australia between 19 April and 13 May 2012 at the invitation of Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations.  Dr Serhiy Kvit will be in Western Australia between May 6 to 8 to meet with academics, politicians and the community.  The main thrust of Dr Serhiy Kvit’s presentations will be “Academic Freedom, University Autonomy and Public Debate: Issues in Ukraine Today.”

Dr Serhiy Kvit  is a prominent commentator on educational issues, has been rector of the National University of Kyiv‐Mohyla Academy since 2007. In 2002‐07 he was Dean of the University’s social studies faculty. He founded the Kyiv‐Mohyla School of Journalism in 2001 and became president of the Media Reform Centre, set up to initiate open debate and promote more transparent media and government (… read more on attached flyers)
