This event certainly was not a disappointment in any way. The high standard of performances, a well-planned programme, great band Hrim, stalls, food and drink and to top it off a sunny balmy day.

The only downside was the empty seats. Perhaps our hromadas can encourage more visitors from other states.

It will be difficult waiting another two years but well worth the wait going by this year’s Hopak, my first and hopefully many more to attend.

Thankyou Taras and all the many dancers and other support.

In March 2012, a few days after John Demjanjuk’s death, the Munich District Court declared that Demjanjuk was innocent because the German Appelate Court had not tried his appeal. The court confirmed that his previous conviction was invalidated and that Demjanjuk has no criminal record. (This was reported in Haaretz Israeli news agency on March 23, 2012: http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/convicted-nazi-criminal-demjanjuk-deemed-innocent-in-germany-over-technicality-1.420280).

In April 2012, Demjanjuk’s lawyers have appealed to have his US citizenship reinstated on the basis that the US Dept of Justice withheld exculpatory evidence.

Yes the entertainment will be on the stage and there is 2500 general seating at the Bowl infront of the grass.
You must purchase an entry ticket at the gate on the day.

This is not a comment but a question. I wasn’t able to go to the Myer Music Bowl concert in Melbourne last year but would like to go this year. Is the concert performed on the stage and is there seating availability for the general public? I can’t sit on the lawn because of a recent injury. Can someone please advise? Thanks

Too much dancing?
What do you expect with an “UKRAINIAN COSSACK DANCE SPECTACULAR”?

Contact the organisers of this event directly via email instead of complaining here and setting bad expectations for everyone else. You’re more likely to get your message across to them as well if you contact them directly. It’s good feedback which I’m sure they would appreciate, I just don’t think this page is the right place for your comments.

On another note – I’m excited for Hopak in the park. Just hope the weather holds up! Can’t wait to see the dancing and all the costumes and smiles!

In 2008 I had the opportunity to attend a meeting with the Ukrainain Foriegn Affair’s Ministry. Ukraine informed us that they had set aside land in Kyiv for an Australian Embassy. It would be interesting if this fact could be confirmed and the address of the land set aside..

Aout time. ustralia needs to establish better diplomatic relationship with Ukraine. OZukes also needs to try and negotiate The opportunity for Australians to travel to Ukraine on the free 90 day visa option. Currently Astralians need an invitation to visit Ukraine. This is a serious limiting factor when devising to visit Ukraine on an Australian Passport. Australia is the home of the Lonely Planet and can contribute significantly to the develment of Ukraine as a tourist destination.

Australia also need to review the Assessment level attributed to Ukrainians seeking to study in Australia. currently set at leve 3. it should be on par with Russia.

Hopefully an Australian Embassy would facilittate improved diplomatic represenation between the two states.

Australia has a lot to offer Ukraine in terms of developing Ukraine as a Parliamenatry democracy. or electoral system alone is worth of consideration and would save Ukraine 100,s of millions of dollars.

Sadly Stefan Romaniv has and continues to sypport and promote the autocratic Presidential system. Ukraine would be far better off it it adopted a full parliamentary model of governance.

Can the Leadership of the Ukrainian community notify members of organisations that grants are available via the traditional mail ( A fantastic idea would be via the mail list of say the AUV). Not everyone uses a computer. Not everyone knows about these grants.

It just makes it more transparent. We would not want people to think there is nepotism.
